[V8] 1990 V8Q shifting WAY too hard

Good advice, seconded. And yup, some sites have listed the 92-97 100/A6 V6
filter incorrectly for the V8, so just be forewarned. The 1-gallon at a
time is the easiest way to flush these out and it doesn't shock the system.

Since you just got the car, and if you plan to keep it, I would take it a
step further. Remove the exhaust cross member, remove AT pan, clean well.
Remove filter and replace. Put pan back on, (do not 'flush' transmission!)
put in one gallon Mobil 1 synthetic ATF. Do a fluid only change again in 1
month or 1,000 miles.
PS - make sure you can get the correct filter before doing this - I sort of
remember having a problem getting one last time - but I'll bet you can find
it somewhere. Good luck.
