[V8] Dash Pad Removal for Ignition Switch Replacement

You need to be very careful when you are trying to work the instrument
cluster out ... there are two plastic bosses on the right end of the cluster
that fit into gaps in the casting ... I got a bit frustrated one time and
ended up breaking one of them.  What works for me is to rotate the top of
the IC back toward the windshield as I slide the IC to the left.  Sometimes
I have to rock the IC side to side to work it out.

I think you are getting hung up on
the three (or was it 2) plastic guides.  They are a pain, and I don't 100%
remember how I did it... However, search the archives for posts by me
someone answered it for me back in march.  Ill look too.    I think you just
need more yanking force if its near free.

Hi,   To get to the ignition switch I have taken out all the 5mm Allen bolts
that hold 
the dash pad onto the aluminum frame, including the ones in the center vent
and 
under the cluster lip. 
  The dash is free to move forward, but is hanging up under the pad about
1/3 over 
from the right side of the dash with a  metallic interference click. Has
anyone had 
to overcome an obstacle sliding out the dash? Any hints here (where to place
a bar 
etc) would ease the frustration of this job that is far from complete.
   My mechanic thinks he would have taken out the two bolt connection to the

steering rack and pulled the steering column out and over into the left
footwell. 
Has anyone had any experience in the repair of only the electrical ignition
switch?
