He's got a point. Just had this off of my 93 a few days ago. Then you can
get right at that screw. Plus you can really get to some cleaning if
there's a bunch of sludge built up down there.

Why not just take 20/30 minutes to remove the throttle body assembly instead
of taking an hour to try to remove that lower screw which is undoubtedly
rusted to hell?

Yes, the TPS is held on by on two screws and that lower screw on the TPS can
be a pain. I got as much stuff out of the way as possible, within reason,
and ended up using some pliers on it, possibly vice grips, but I don't think
so due to space. I think I used a small set of channel locks to grip the
screw head and get it loose. I installed small bolts instead of screws as a
result of this.
To clean the ISV, use throttle body cleaner, not carb or brake cleaner. This
is said to have some lubricant properties that are better for the ISV. You
can use a 9v battery to cause the valve inside the ISV to move back and
forth. You shouldn't use anything like a screwdriver, etc. I have used a
Q-tip to manipulate it however.

My hot start issue may be related to the TPS on the front of the ISV black
cylinder
at the front of the engine. I decided to replace it with another. First the
radiator is
in the way, so I remover the mixing assembly to the dual throttle faps. I
still can't
remove the lower phillips head screw holding the TPS in place. Are the two
mini
screws the way to remove this six pin sensor?
How would I clean the idle stabilizer valve? The book seems to skip all of
this and I
am unable to find it in the archives. Is there a search for subject that
includes all
years, any reference to TPS? Thanks, Bob
