Interesting. How difficult is it to remove the valve body?

When you decide to change the fluid, also take the time to pull and clean
the valve body, and I'll bet you experience no more problems. The valve body
is the source of a high precentage of problems on older Automatics. And,
still some of the new ones, although a number of manufacturers have split
the valve body up, and parts of it require dissassembly of a good potion of
the transmission.
