[V8] last legs?

That's how it started for me.....a bearing type of noise.
I haven't seen too many tensioners ever go bad, but plenty of compressors  
seize....methinks you could listen to where the noise is coming from, as it 
was  pretty obvious to me the A/C was kaput as it is on the other side of 
the  crankshaft from the alternator, so it was the PS pump or the A/C. I have 
a  new PS pump.
Alternator bearings almost always squeal for along time before dieing in a  
haze of smoke. Also, in my experience, and the size of the pulley is also a 
 lot smaller so it's not likely it would seize the belt either.
The A/C tends to come on even when it's cold to remove moisture from the  
interior....my compressor died the day after coming home from skiing...and 
I'm  sure it worked overtime to get humidity out of the cabin.
BTW, my car has about 130K on it too. And it was the original  compressor.
