Hey, so this is my whiny I hate/love my car message, and a cry for parts,
and some good news e-mail.
So, first good news, the hydraulic repair went well, lots of white snow, no
pentosin. So go figure, rebuild the hydraulic pump (thanks tom, as well)
and rebuild the hoses, and you're good to go :-) Also, the engine runs very
well, no issues when hitting the throttle on up through 5500. It does STILL
have the weird flutter at idle where it dips down to 600 and up to 900
rapidly. Not sure why. But its way less common now.
The real gripes, well, they are a ton. 3 big ones are that first, the car
fogs up. Like, randomly, for no reason, and no matter what setting the HVAC
controls are on. My guess would be that its the flap on the passenger side
is stuck open, right? The other big issue is that the car still has a slow
drain. It is most likely the locking pump. I found out the P/N for the
locking pump is 4AO 862 247 J, so the one with factory alarm. I could use
one if anyone has it. Mine is out, and I jumpered a wire so that I can
still start the car for now. Lastly, the front suspension. Bleh. We
redid this before but due to the weather and time constraints we didn't get
a chance to really truly do it right. We need to get a new subframe, and
re-weld the nuts that hold the 4 bushing bolts in, so they don't move
around. Blah.
Some good news: I found my remaining doo-dads for my S4 rear subframe with
sway bar at the dealer. My Gpa gets me a 50% off discount there. So I'll
be getting those and a few other pieces soon.
And, with that, I also asked about the UFO caliper repair kits. They've got
more than a few. Any interest, tell me i can get them for about 25/set
shipped, I think. but that should be about right. one kit is one set of
seals for one caliper.
