Two words: Torque and heat. I bet 90% of the V8s out there (including mine)
have at least one shot motor mount, if not both. Funny thing is that I have
NEVER seen a bad trans mount. Ever.

One more for the Road!!!
So, I am pretty sure I have the worst luck in the world. If anyone were to
disagree with me I have proof positive they are wrong. I know I said it
myself last year but its definitely "in for a penny, in for a pound" for me
now... I seem to have one foot in a deep mess of four-ring brand quicksand.
So, I decided to blast down the engine bay today with some cleaner and a
pressure washer, and while getting every nook and cranny, noticed the
passenger side front motor mount. its not something I could ever remember
looking at or noticing. So, something egged me on to look at it. And, Lo
and Behold, its cracked in half. I'm not just talking about, oh look a bit
of rubber is cracked sort of. I'm talking about a 3/8in gap between the
lower 1 in and the rest of the mount, at an angle, and then they are not
lined up either, maybe 1/2 side to side misaligned between top and bottom.
So, that's awesome. Throw that into the list of parts I'll need, not that
its a big deal, since I'm tearing everything apart anyway...
Anyway, Whats everyone's conjecture on how the hell that happened? Its been
like that since I've had the car last jan, I'm sure of it. you can
obviously feel it, but I didn't realize it would be something that bad, we
thought front subframe bushings. So, it could be those two bushings, or
maybe the Hydro motor mounts went out, to take that out? Short of getting
hit in the front, I've never seen something break like that. And this car
has a nice straight frame, so I doubt it was in an accident.
Ugh. Well, I'm not too worried about it, I'll get this car straightened
out in the next year or so, haha, and will eventually be able to enjoy it.
Any suggestions on what else to check and how to pop that mount out for a
new one are greatly appreciated.
