yes some good points . I've only blown on tire at speed in a 1974 Chev Impala . That was very exciting moment in my your driving days !

 

One of the main problems with SUVs is the center of Mass is high ... this really helps them to tip over .

Ah, yes. I actually had an old (I knew they were old) Pirelli snow tire loose part of its tread two weeks ago on the freeway. The dangerous part art SUVs is twofold:

Remember the big hoopla regarding those Firestone 'defective' tires on the Ford Explorers?  They weren't defective at all. Ford found that the easiest after the fact way to make their SUV more controllable was to underinflate the tires dangerously close to the lower recommended inflation limit.

The other factor? Drivers who wouldn't routinely check their tire pressures. Most blowouts are due to tire underinflation, not overinflation.

this is an interesting 9min Video on Old tires and the danger of running with them on your Vehicle .



There is a part of the video when they show you a garage full of wreaked vehicles .... what I Noticed is they were all SUVs.
