[V8] Moving my car?

I signed back up again last year - got trip books, maps and other info
(sorry, I prefer paper to computer screens and GPS systems) all free at
their offices here. Had to get my car open when I locked my keys in it
(one stupid day) and they covered that, so... I think I'm doing fine.
No gripes so far... haven't had to tow anything yet (THANK YOU) so I
don't know what the current policy is.
Considering how many people sign up just to get free towing right when
they need it, I think the bad behavior might be a two-way issue ;)

This gets me thinking; I haven't had AAA for a long time now, but had
recently thought about joining again. Last time I looked at it a few
months
back, I remember thinking it was sort of goofy, because there was
pretty
large price discrepancy between signing up for AAA in Texas and AAA in
Oregon (can't remember which one was higher, but one of them was
significantly more costly).
So, for those who've left AAA, what do you use or recommend for
emergency
towing? I know my auto insurance company offers optional roadside
assistance, but I've never bought it because I have this (maybe
unreasonable) concern that when I really need it, I'll find out that
there's
some oddball catch to the whole thing, and I'll be left sitting in the
middle of nowhere, swearing at some call center rep.
