Good luck Curtis. I'll be very interested in your progress, so check in
often, and take lots of photos. You could always put it on a blog...might be
a fin thing for you and your son to do, plus it would be informational for
others who endeavor to perform a motor swap.
Anyway, best of luck. You can count on me to assist in anyway I can.
As for pulling the front end, it would definitely give you better access to
the engine bay, but that front bumper assembly is heavy, about 200 lbs IIRC,
so be careful.

Subject: [V8] Motor SWAP!!!
Will be my first one on an Audi. As you all recall my son's TB broke back in
Sept 09. .... I've picked up another 3.6 from Allen (32vquattro) on the
list. Thanks again!!
He did the TB while the motor was out. He also put a new WP on it not long
ago.
Anywho, the car is at my buddy's shop. I'll have access to a lift, cherry
picker and engine stand. He'll be helping me with the bigger stuff. Alot of
the work I'll do on my own.......I need to know if you all can offer any
tips, tricks to doing the swap. Easier the better.
Would taking the front end off make it alot easier? I have the 4 service
manuals...Will those be much help on an engine swap?
Sorry for all the newb questions.
Allen gave me his number to call if I needed anything......but I don't want
to bother him.
TIA,
Curtis
