... not exactly *simple* IME ... The connector ends are cocooned into the
wiring looms, one on the left side of the console and the other on the
right. You can figure out where they are by looking for the bulge, and then
unwrapping the felt tape. The wires then run behind the console at the top.
You need to remove the left and right side console covers. The wire is
white with a black stripe with single pin connector on the end.
It takes a little bit of work, but I've found it worthwhile to have the
check engine light working ...

You can simply short the connectors, and
blink codes out that way. There is a connector that isn't hooked up for the
check engine light on most cars. Simply plug it in, and the light works for
the codes.
