[V8] The End.

I am having sellers remorse. I sold my '90 V8 last night and had to hold
back the tears as it drove away. I don't cry easily (except at Lassie
movies), but when I heard her throaty sound of acceleration going away, and
fading in the distance. I though "What the heck did I just do?". I'm sure if
I had sold it for $7000, the feeling would be different, but maybe not.

 

So with that I say to the Audi List. "Good Bye and THANK YOU" You all have
been a great, unspeakable how much, source of help, and even though I've
only met a couple of you in person, over the past ten years you have been a
source of camaraderie, my "brothers" in the battle of life with a picky
woman. Sometimes we refer to her as the "beast", the only car I've ever had
such a love/hate relationship with.

 

I've thought about becoming an armchair quarterback, kind of like Roger, who
told us all how is was, even though he wasn't betrothed to V8, but then with
enough words about it, bought another...

Or I could sit and watch from the sidelines and smirk as you all discuss the
same woes at the same times (don't these cars all do the same things in the
same seasons.), OR I could delete my archive if literally 15,951 Audi V8
list e-mails.

 

I should have had you all tell me "Don't do it" last week when I was
thinking about selling her, but I wasn't being fair to her. She only has
driven me about 8000 miles on the past 5 years, and I have let others use
her for about the same. An Audi V8,even as by far the ABSOLUTE BEST car I
have ever owned, is not a good car for moving about if you are in a
wheelchair (my wife is after we were hit by a drunk driver in 2003).

 

Enough of my sorrows. If you have are ever thinking about selling your V8,
be wise little grasshoppers, for when she goes, you will be sad as the
summer hay when it is cut and laid baking in the sun.

PS.. I still DO have an old VAG-Com adapter (serial port, not USB) and a
licensed copy of VAG-COM that I will sell if someone is interested. I don't
know what it's worth yet, haven't even looked. Make me a good offer (Good
for you AND good for me)..
