ATF DOES NOT substitute for mineral oil, synthetic or otherwise.

There are plenty of alternatives cheaper or about the price of ATF which
can be used without damage or premature failure of expen$ive PITA to
replace hydraulic components.

As to the original question, 11S is the newer synthetic, and the systems
are backwards compatible, so the sky isn't falling if you put the old 7.1
in there.
