Dropping the trans for the master and slave is not necessary. BTDT. I
can't comment on the shift linkage as I've not done it before, but I do have
a short shift kit that has instructions for doing it that do not involve
dropping the trans.

Subject: Re: [V8] 5 spd clutch master/slave

Hey folks,
Seems my 5 spd may need the clutch master/Slave replaced. Pedal went slowly
soft and eventually shifting became impossible.....made for a nice commute
home in traffic, thankfully the car will shift without the clutch as least
when moving....don't ask about starts...but at least the stoplight gods
where nice to me and I got home into the driveway without a hitch. 5 dollar
question: how long to replace the master and slave and should I
just drop the trans? (I am also going to R&R my shifter at the same time). I

replaced the master and slave in my old 5000TQ in a few hours, but access
was much better, and wondering if this will be a all day affair. Sadly, I
just finished a big rebuild on my race car and I am not really in
the mood to do another big project right now (though trans in that car has
a leak and will need to be pulled also) :-(
But, not sure how long I want to drive my E350 till I break down and fix
the V8.... :-(
Thanks,
Jack
