I have personally worked on one 1990 factory 5sp. This is Joe Fritz's car who now lives in Minnesota. Before he moved he had the car towed to my house from the Boston area. Car was sitting for the better part of 2 years. I had to fully go through this car. I documented all the work done in a thread on motorgeek. Cat had around 90k when I got my hands on it. Titan Grey with a Grey gut.......freaking car was and is in mint condition. I brought it to //sfest about 3 years ago.
And one was fs on the West Coast.......Bill Gutierese (sp?)......car was mentioned on list a while back and was also advertised on AF. Not sure who bought it though. It's Titan Grey with the same Grey gut.

Joe had mentioned to me that it came from a dealer on the West coast. He said thee had 3......two Titan Grey and one Black.

bastian-

about 10 years ago, i had a chance to read a book about the history of the
V8. it was written in english and was quite official. i don't know if it
was an actual audi book or something published by someone else. it was on
loan to an audi fanatic from another car lover.

i recall only one year, as it was most important to me. it said in 1991
there were 51 5 speeds brought to the USA. i have tried for 10 years to
locate that same book with no luck. i do recall it had Audi written on the
front cover. it was about 50-75 pages long. it focused mostly on the V8
but covered the history of quattro as a whole.

it was hard bound with (i think) a slip cover and had a picture of a v8 or
v8 prototype on the cover which was some kind of red or cayenne. the pic
was of the front of the car taken from about 2 or 3 meters in the air
looking down on the grill and windscreen.

i also remember being shocked to find out there were a few (like 15) 1989 5
speed brought into the USA. the book was specific to a point where it
actually gave model numbers for about 12-15 different countries around the
world.

i was also very surprised to see the USA got some 1992 5 speeds (actually 6
speeds IIRC). i have NEVER seen any factory manual cars 3.6 or 4.2 in the
USA other than 1991 models of which i personally have seen and driven 3
other than mine.

if anyone has any idea who wrote the book or where i could find a copy, i
would love to know.
