 Yes the pump has a timed-out failsafe shutoff relay, and it will burn out leaving it in in under 150 dutycycles IME.

I believe that *eventually* the motor will shut off ... but don't leave it
in this condition for long as the motor gets really hot and can melt some of
the internal plastic bits ...

trying to build vacuum with a hose removed. D'oh! I think it shuts itself
off automatically, 'cuz I was ready to unplug it, but by the time I got
around to the other side and unlocked the doors manually, the pump had
stopped.
