[V8] Transmission

Jason made a great point about fluid level....If there's no dipstick,  
how do you know there's any fluid(maybe there is a dipstick, but  
usually not.)  If not,open the drain plug, Hmmmm only a quart came  
out.....replace plug, put 4 quarts of fluid in, and see if it  
shifts.....If it does, then do the full change(remove return hose @  
cooler) and have someone start the car and run till it's empty...shut  
off immediatly)....Drop pan and do filter(and cut it open just for  
fun).Refill with 8 quarts(?) Mobil 1 ATF.....This was what I was told  
years ago, there might be a more appropriate ATF today.    When I got  
the Pearl Car (93), it had some shift issues, and when I put the  
dipstick in(out of the Lago car), there was nothing.  1/2 quart came  
out of the hole.  I refilled, and it worked fine. Still is working  
fine.   Never got around to the filter before I sold it ..... and  
since the "dropping of the pan" is more than "an hour or so"for  
me...try the refill first.  Every V8 I've stuck my dipstick in(don't  
even bother), was low.....and I'm still waiting for that car that's  
got 20K, and some crazed car guy  say's  "I think the tranny is gone,  
so I'll take $1000...../it's usually the fluid....Tom,
