BUT that's only due to different levels of taxation. In almost all of
Europe, diesel is taxed less than gas and is therefore less expensive.
Notable exception: Switzerland, where diesel is taxed the same level as
is gasoline, and depending on the season (winter=higher prices) it
tends to be as expensive as premium gasoline.
There's countries like Austria where diesel cars have a market share of
over 50%, and even in Germany almost 40% of new cars have a diesel under
the hood.
