[V8] Mystery part

My question would then be, what keep's the Auto cars from just  
"flying shut".....I didn't post this, but I couldn't find the part in  
the ETKA @ the dealer looking up my car(california /5-speed etc).   
Just curious if it's a mandatory kind of part(for someone who doesn't  
get tested)......Don't get me wrong, I'm all about emissions, as my  
04 diesel truck is smoking more that it used to, and have to feel bad  
about that as it is.  The motor is in it's last year of warranty, and  
the Bosch injectors have been a problem to many to say the  
least.....GM has tried to not honor the warranty on many people, as  
the injectors are about $400 each,(8 injectors = what I paid for the  
5-speed) and when 1000's have the same problem, they have hesitated.   
Worse case is when the injector body cracks and falls into the  
cylinder hole....and we all know what that means.  My mileage has  
gone  down, but don't have some of the other symptoms(fuel in oil  
etc)....but WILL bring it in before my time is up, and pay out of  
pocket to see what they find.......Anyway, that's another story...Tom
