[V8] Headliner poll

Our '90's headliner gave up this year, quickly becoming a rear privacy
curtain. So last night I started the process of fixing it. I removed all
of the various bits and panels holding it in place and was able to get it
out of the V8 in one piece without damage. Then things got ugly. I don't
know what Audi was thinking but that orange foam is evil. Sticks to
everything, refuses to come off the panel, yet falls apart at the slightest
touch. After an hour of scraping, brushing and wiping I got most of it off
of the head liner support panel. Now it's time to re-cover it.

So here's the question to folks that have been through this before: Did you
re-use the original fabric, try to match the color with a replacement
fabric, or replace with a different color? If you did replace it, did you
replace the sunroof cloth as well?

Our car is the dark blue/grey interior combination, and I'm curious about
going with a darker grey or black color. Any success/failure stories here?
