You do not have to totally remove the box to get to the blower motor, only
raise the end toward the engine enough. In other words, you follow the
steps regarding the plenum from the evaporator box, loosen the seal at the
firewall, pull up on the front of the box just a little and you can reach
in through the plenum hole to get to the blower motor. You also have to
remove the fastening at the end of the motor on the outside of the box on
the driver side, where the wiring harness plugs in. Then you can pull the
squirrel cage and motor, usually in one piece, and you'll have it out. You
should check the area where the new motor will seat for any spacers from
the old motor that might still be in the cavity. Otherwise, just insert
the motor/fan assembly, redo the fastening on the outside of the box. I've
replace two blower assemblies on these cars that way. You only have to
remove the box completely and split it in half to do the heater core.

Kneale,
Thanks for the quick response. I went to the site and reviewed it, but I
don't understand what you meant when you wrote:
"For the blower motor, you only need to raise the leading edge of the box
enough to get to the blower motor, not remove it entirely."
Is there a more detailed step-by-step description of how to remove JUST the
blower motor? I am getting lost because this also explains how to remove
the heater core.
Thanks,
Brad
