[V8] Rare V8 in Tokyo, Japan

That's a 'standard' "factory" V8 Lang, as much as these cars were
'standard' as there was a large amount of hand-building involved with
each of them. The rear seats are indeed standard equipment in the Lang
model. To me it looks like it was not officially imported but brought
into Japan individually from Europe, as it's LHD and has the European
taillights and instrument cluster. And it's not a "classic line"
package, although the leather color looks to be the same 'magnolia' that
was used for these. Classic line leather as in the package always had
piping. In this car, the only thing that's not either standard or
available as a factory option for anyone is the color of the leather.
And my netting looks like that also - although mine has fifteen times
the mileage. And I put stuff in there ;) Remember, this car has only
15,800 miles on the clock and probably spent 99.999 percent of its life
in a garage.
And that's a 4.2 - check the intake manifold 3.6 would be black, 4.2 is
aluminum color.
Note the gas-powered auxiliary heater (the battery is under that cover
at the left side of the trunk, and the control panel is in the driver's
door. Even the lid covering the panel is intact - my hinges broke off
about seven years ago, they tend to do that with use). And I wonder what
's been done to the fog lights.

hm, for the $24.000 they want for it (and since it's been around for
quite awhile , I remember seeing this on the German board awhile ago, so
I'd guess the first $20k takes it home ), and if the tacky add-on
electronics can be removed without leaving holes in the pristine
interior and there'll be a nice set of the factory BBS wheels on it, I
guess that this one will one day be a collector item that should retain
its worth.

And Bryan, I totally second your Korean stories. Back when I was in
college in the early 90s I had a side job at a Siemens subsidiary, and
once there was a chinese delegation (some high-ranking officials from
the postal administration) visiting. We drove those guys to lunch and
dinner in our personal cars, and after they saw I had an Audi 200 they
believed I must be the boss and treated me like I was. Very
embarrassing. The Chinese version of the Type 44 at the time was
reserved for government bigwigs...

regards,
Bastian
