Actually I was thinking of posting today because throwing my Acura SLX up on
jacks the other day for a few hours of service has turned into three days
(wrong tranny gasket in the kit!).  So have have hussled the V8 out the last
few days.  Damn.  Every time I drive another vehicle, then go back to that
car, I just marvel at it.

I was marvelling yesterday (is that a real verb? "Marvelling?)  at the
interior space.  This is something I have always appreciated, mind you, not
a new discovery.  I can sit fully back in the drivers seat, and stretch my
arms out and I can not touch the dash panel wood with my finger tips.
Awesome.  I am 5-10, a muscular (and fairly attractive, I might add, in case
there are any female lurkers on the list) 200lbs.  So I am not small.  This
is in fact one of the reasons I bought the car way back in like '97 or so.
It's like a living room in the front seats.  I drove that thing 5 or 6 hours
straight on friday nighs after a 70 hour work and I arrived fresher than
when I left.  There are damn few cars that can deliver that.  I have the
factory 5 speed with those different seats, so maybe that makes a
difference. But even the slush boxes will have the same space.  The other
ting I marvel at is the engine.  I know it is only 3.6l, but it is damn
nice.  It has, on paper, the same specs as the 4.7l Toyota V8 they used in
everything from the mid 90s to now (it is now bored out to 5.7l in the
newest Tototas/Watchamafucks - oh yeah, "Lexus."  Whatever.).  I live now up
a steep hill. I actually live in a geat place to put a 105mm artillery piece
and then shell the Microsoft HQ.  That is my secret fantasy. OK, back to
reality - The Acura and other cars I drive are down to 2nd to get up it  but
I just run up it at 1500 rpm and 4th gear in the V8.  And it pulls fine and
is lively to the foot.  Gotta love that.  If any of you guys have a 105 or
larger field artillery piece, talk to me privately off-list.

My ex and I also had a 100  series Land cruiser (the 98 to 2007 body type).
I loved that.  Only vehicle I could consider giving up the 5 speed v8 for.
But the V8 is so much more car than the Land Cruiser, which I otherwise hold
as the finest motor vehicle evermade (except perhaps the liter-class Honda
sport bikes, which of course make me shiver they are so thrilling).  So much
more refined (the V8), comfortable.  And of course except for ground
clearance, just as all-weather capable on roads as the legendary Land
Cruisers.  I used to live in Vermont and I recall so many times in blizzards
having to dive my V8 into snow banks to pull around Range Rovers and such
that were stuck on the road.  Really.

I was considering selling my V8 and getting a 100 series Land cruiser, but I
have firmly decided I will just get a cheaper tow vehicle (I have a horse
and trailer I need to two periodically now) and keep the 5 speed V8 as my
"forever" car.  I did buy an Acura SLX for that purpose (gussied up Isuzu
Trooper - it's pretty cool, actually. But it's no Audi and it only has a
V6).  I might actually, when I get old, buy a bulldozer and then have
whoever has to clean up after me just dig a big hole and bury me in my '91 5
speed.  Love it.

Ok, so what the fuck is a C4?  Besides a great way to kill commies en masse.
