[V8] ATTENTION....or, WOW!! IS THAT WAAAAAAAY COOL, OR WHAT?

But those two times, you REALLY need it.

I'm with Roger and have my own strong opinion about A/C. I often see it as
a delete on projects like this, and even more surprisingly, on cars simply
undergoing a "freshening" of some sort or being "cleaned up" for a revival
from a period of low popularity in the fleet or resurrection from disuse
and/or neglect.

Maybe it's just me, I even fathom how people live in Phoenix or Vegas, no
slight intended, and I don't even really like summer in Colorado Springs
anymore. It's in the 50's in the morning these days and I have a box fan in
the bedroom window all night. I use flannel sheets year round and have a
window A/C unit twice the size spec'd for the room.

Prior to the start of its now near 3-year long timing belt job, I wouldn't
drive the CGT on any warm day because the A/C was not working. It didn't
help that one or both window regulators was usually inop either.

I would really like to learn about the demise of the A/C in this V8 C4
Avant. Was it out of eagerness to get it on the road and enjoy it or was it
due to lack of space or interest or funds or ingenuity to bring a difficult
detail to fruition. Again, no slight intended but I get that maybe it would
have fit but making it operation seemed like more trouble than it was worth
at the time.

I mean, I feel like my 93 V8 is half-assed right now because I had to pull
the sunroof relay so I couldn't open it because it wants to open further
when I tell it to close. If I was doing an engine conversion, I'd really
want a whole and complete car when I was done.

If I find myself living in Chicago in the nearish future, a trip to Mpls to
retrieve a car would be far from the furthest I've drive to do so. After
all, it would be easier to start a new collection than move my current one
across county.

No A/C? It's a white car in cool Minnesota, Roger. You probably "need"
A/C twice a summer.

Wow. Very nice car, with great stuff. And the price is very right. If I
had $2500 to throw at a car right now, I would point the V8 toward St Paul
and go for a drive.

Oh, but..no..wait. Automatic Transmission? None? Well, that's OK for this
car, and I could live with it. It would be expensive for me to do so,
however. It would mean that the house and barn and kitchen were built, and
I would have to shell out the really big bucks for another Dyson. But as a
"man toy", a five speed works quite well.

But the real killer is that the A/C has been removed, and I wonder why that
is? I wonder if the V8 positioning doesn't allow for the oem compressor to
fit. I am not sure why else the a/c would be removed, unless just out of
sloth. With this extensive work, the deletion of the a/c..

But still: $2500? Hmmmmmmmmm.

Roger
