I don't know the intricate build of this year well. But I do know the
general features of that model as I was shopping for a similar vintage Tahoe
or p/u last summer; my horse needed one to tow his trailer. He got a 1998
Acura SLX instead and he seems OK with that.
I would look under the seats for a wire loom to possibly power a different
seat. Many of the used bolt-in replacements you are going to find might be
electric, so it would be good to know if you can just bolt/plug them in by
verifying the existence of the loom. Usually the trucks were all wired the
same regardless of final accessories fitment further down the line. I
believe the seats you want are generally referred to as a "70/30 bench"
style in GM nomenclature.
A '98 with that many miles would be a great vehicle from my shopping
experience. There were some minor tweaks to the 5.7L Vortec through the mid
90s and by 98 they had it humming well. Also if it is a 4x4 K2500, you have
the first year or two they had the push-button system working well and
reliably. So consulting my Magic 8 Ball that I keep on my fireplace mantle
for all major life decisions, when I ask about the a positive outlook on
your truck, it says, "Signs Point to Yes!"
