[V8] Weird burnt thing

So I worked out why I have 4 wires not two.
I didn't have the original fusible link. A previous owner had inserted an external fuse which connected with two wires to the the fusible link terminals. This external fuse was the horribly melted thing.
I purchased an 80A fusible link from my local Advance Auto Parts and with a little modification it screwed right in.
I checked the fan to see that it wasn't seized up and it was quite free, (unless of course you can turn the blades without turning the motor shaft).
I couldn't see any exposed terminal where I could apply 12v to test it, so I still haven't verified that it actually works.
