Hi Dave,

Thanks for your interest.

Wish I could be of more help but exact metallurgy
and engineering hurdles was not exactly the focus
of our symposiums. Though, I do recall someone
mentioning the development challenges your
asking about, but it was more of an aside.

A company division here in MA that was building-out
commercial platforms of the Ford Hydrogen/Triton was:

http://www.azuredynamics.com/

Might try their site or some Google Scholar searches.

The injectors are likely not the same but are apparently
manufactured - I'm not sure if they are available at a
Ford parts-counter or not.

Let me know if you turn up some good info!

Best,

-Ed

Hi Ed,

This is some interesting news.
I am curious how a direct hydrogen injection system works on a normal
piston engine. Is the original injector setup used? I was under the impression
that while H2 could be used almost like regular gas or propane, it caused the
metal to get brittle fairly quickly. If the biggest problem is the tank then
this is something I would like to learn more about. In my mind, if I could
produce a days worth of H2 at home and burn it in a standard engine
(modified fuel system of course) then I think I would have a better system than any
future battery powered car.
