I wrote a long rambling thing about my Duramax, and will just shorten
it (I can type 90 wpm on a good day).....Chevy was gonna release a
smaller 4 cyl version just prior to the meltdown, and haven't heard
anything since. If I could "downsize" to a smaller turbo Diesel, in
a stout 1/2 ton truck(dreamin), I'd do it in a heartbeat. Isuzu
(duramax) has smaller TD's all over the globe that get awsome
mileage, and have the torque to do what needs to be done, but are now
hindered here by the Urea Injection thing. My friend's are moving
back from Germany after 4 years, and had to sell their BMW 330D wagon
that they loved, and got smoking mileage, but didn't have the Urea
injection, so couldn't import it, and are bringing home a gas version
since they loved the car so much. We looked into ways of getting in
into Vancouver, but in the end, it was gonna be a headache(even
though we have no emission's testing in our county).....I'm just
guessing, but my Duramax is definatly not cleaner/greener than that
car. Nor is my friend's 84 POS Dodge Diesel, but it's legal. I hate
seeing any vehicle smoke, and am all about "clean", but this just
bugged the hell out of me. It's not a pickup, but turbo diesel's are
the wave of the future for the working world....My last work van got
8mpg.....and that is a crime in today's world....Tom
