[V8] Early V8q general known issues

Any car that has been sitting - look for fuel and brake issues. The brake
lube points, seized calipers, parking brake.

Engine oil leaks - expensive to fix and is it worth it?? Back 20 years ago
I nixed a $6K '90 car due to an oil leak as the cost to fix was huge.

Steering rack leaks.

There is a reason it's sitting - the problems it has accumulated exceeded
the usefulness of the car.

Ideas to take on the drive - maybe a helmet??

Subject: [V8] Early V8q general known issues

Hello All,

I bought a 1990 V8q 3.6L/ZF 4HP24A auto on the cheap ($350) because it
doesn't have a title. I'm in process of doing that State of Colorado
paperwork now so I can't drive it until that's done. My question is: What
are the problem areas in this car that I might need to check while it's
sitting? I know my instrument cluster goes dark when I put it in drive with
the lights on. It also stalls when cold when I put it in gear, after warming
up it's ok. It's sitting at a friend's place about 30 miles from where I
live since I can't have an unlicensed vehicle sitting in a condo parking
area. I'd like some ideas to take with me when I make this drive! Thank you
in advance for your help..

Don
