[V8] A V8 Problem

Now that it is colder my spare V8 runs like a race car. It has some performance
enhancement from previous owners. When it is 80 degrees and above, outside
temperatures effect re-starting (when hot) on this car. Now, no problem, so
some type of temp sensor may be my problem.
I can't resist working the auto gear selector in this car, getting all the punch
that is available. But, this is the other side of my problem. If I pull it into 1st or
2nd while the car is revved, it throws the timing off or whatever and it Backfires
and dies, not to start again, until I shoot starter fluid into the air box. Even then
it takes a while to catch (like the common hot start condition). I have replaced
the two flywheel sensors and it normally re-starts fine in the colder
temperatures we have now.
So, could the multi-function switch be part of my problem? Since the Audi
failsafe switch prevents starts if the selector is not in park or neutral, could it
also get hot and "short". Could interrupt the same signal, like a shorted flywheel
sensor, that the computer looks for to allow the injectors to supply fuel? Can a
bad m-f switch cut off fuel supply when the trans is hot? There is some evidence
that the odometer sensor can do this, if it shorts when hot. Thanks, Bob
Have a great Holiday!
