Hey Don, the last time I asked, my local dealer said the key blanks
were NLA, but if I could find a blank, they could cut the key from
the VIN. Looking thru my records, the Lago car got a key made(PN
443837220A) at the dealer in San Diego in 1998 for $6.55. My Lago
car is the only one with the lighted key and stock Valet key, and
both the 5-speed and the Black car have steel aftermarket ILCO keys.
The ILCO blank is X203 V37 on 2 of them and the 5-speed is X139 V35
and is the same size, but thinner/lighter weight.
The Bose system sends a weak signal thru thin wires to the speakers
that have their own amps to boost the signal, and the capacitors in
the amps are usually the problem. A friend of mine has rebuilt 4
sets of amps for me/listers and still has box's of capacitors to do
them. I just checked, and audipartssuperstore apparently has sold
all the $25 head units, so that's no longer an option. The 5-speed
came with a new Alpine unit, but the original speakers were left in,
and subsequently fried them. I installed new Alpine speakers, but
was too lazy to replace the wires to the front doors, and now the
rears sound incredible, but the front's are really weak and crackly,
and I'm gonna have to go back and replace those wires. If someone's
already cut/rewired the stereo, I'd just replace it/speakers if they
are still Bose/thin wires to the speakers. The front speakers are
actually 4-1/2" so some fabrication required to fit a new 4" speaker
in the hole in the Bose box. My rebuilt Bose system sounds great,
but when it dies, I'm going modern....Tom
