Subject: [V8] Oh, no!
I live about a mile from the town road. In order to get to my driveway, it
is necessary to drive down Lord's Beach Road approximately 300 yards, and
turn onto Oak Street, go about three hundred feet and turn in to my
driveway. It is a gravel road all the way, and the west side of Lord's
Beach Road, all of Oak Street and most of my driveway are shaded by tall
evergreen trees. What this means is that in the worst of winter, the road
is generally icy, and often is completely glare ice.
Not so much a problem for Audi Quattros, and my 4X4 GMC has no issues
either, so long as one is cautious. I 've lived here quite a long time and
I am VERY cautious.
Today, driving out to town just after noon, I was making the slooooooow turn
from Oak Street onto Lord's Beach Road, which is a very slight uphill turn,
and there was just enough sunshine on the surface to make a nice wet slick
on the otherwise green icy surface. As I was leaving, I made a mental note
to call Mike and have him send his sanding truck over to sand all the roads
down here.
Anyway, suddenly, going .05 miles per hour, the car just didn't want to
track, and slid lightly into the 4 foot snow berm opposite the entrance to
Oak Street.
I inspected the nose. The lower corner of the chin spoiler and the slatted
grill below the bumper is crunched. No other damage.
Anyone have the parts? I shudder to think what it is going to cost to have
this repaired. These are plastic parts and will not necessarily be easy to
fix/glue together, and then there is the painting part.
Maybe I CAN glue them all together, d'you think? I wonder if Elmer's glue
will work.
Roger
