I've been to the doctor and it's confirmed -- I have Woodbury disease. :)
I, too, have been window shopping, thinking about what's next after my
'99 A4 Avant. I really like the A4 - looks, size, handling, creature
comforts. It really does it all, except... it's a bit too small. The
front is not cramped, but it is snug. The rear, I apologize putting
coworkers back there.
So, what do I replace it with? I've thought about Passat wagons, but
they don't improve much on the A4. The A8 is a step up, and it is a
strong consideration. The S8 is a big step, and like Roger, it may be
the "last car, keep it forever" kind of step. I've also driven an A6
with a V8; since I won't be working on it (big engine in small bay),
I could happily live with it. But I like a wagon, so an Allroad is
also a candidate. So many choices...
Then I found an S8 with a two-tone interior - black with burgundy
inserts. That's the car that said to me "Take Me Home!" It's high
teens price made the answer an easy, "No."
But in a few years, it will be under $10K...
