[V8] Subject: battery drain?

For what it's worth, the industry accepted standard for max parasitic load (battery drain) is 0.050 amps, or 50 milliamps. Many vehicles draw no more than 25 ma at most after all their systems go to sleep.
The sad thing is I cannot tell you what is "normal" for a V8, because as you might have guessed, both of mine will kill the battery I'm as little as a couple of days. I too have to run down the gremlins on mine, but that won't be till the spring time when weather allows.

There is also an industry accepted formula for calculating the number of days of usable battery life (meaning you can still crank and start the engine), taking into account the battery capacity, state of charge, and parasitic load in milliamps.
I used to have it memorized, but it's been too many moons ago. I'll dig it up as it really is accurate. I'm fact it was used to win a small claims case at one of the brand X car companies I worked for where a customer had an aftermarket alarm installed that was pulling too much current. We showed the Judge the calculation with and without the alarm installed, and proved it with recording the days of battery life both with and without the alarm hooked up (yes, it took so long for the case to be heard that we had the time to do this), so he ruled I'm our favor. We then offered to remove the junk and install a factory alarm at no charge but the customer was so pissed that she lost the case that she tool her bat and ball and went home. Oh well, you win some, and in the process at the same time you lose some!

Thanks,
