I recall doing the filter/ cooler line thing shortly after reading
that post of Mr. C's back in 03. At the time my Lago car had
something like 75K. I did it more to get my hand's dirty/get to
know my car, as I easily could have done the 4 quart drain/fill, as
my filter wasn't really all that dirty. If it's never come out, the
gasket is probably leaking anyway. Once a new filter is in there,
you can easily just pull the 2 cooler lines every 50K/whatever, and
let the tranny pump it all out(how I do the Allison Tranny in the
Duramax, which holds 21 quarts!) The part's car I just got has 145K
or so, and it showed 2 quarts low of black goo. I put 2 quarts in
it, and while it shifts better...it's a bit slow on the draw, and
slips when kickdown occurs on the highway. A new filter "might" fix
that, or the damage was already done by the clogged filter/black
goo....will probably never know as it's other issues make it a
gonner. I'm wishing someone before had bothered to change the filter/
fluid. Oh, and the pan leaks, so that's probably where the 2 quarts
went......Tom
