I have made five long-distance, go get it and drive it home purchases w/o
issue. Great, number six, (as in 666), will go horribly wrong now that I've
stated that.

1. 91 v8 5spd, bummed a ride from NW SC to ATL airport in the wee early
hours, flew to La Guardia, found seller sitting at curb, rode to his place
in CT, did the deal, hooked up with a lister in CT, drove up to the Mt
Washington Hillclimb, drove it to the top, drove home to Greenville. Car was
down on power mostly due to a misadjusted throttle cable which allowed only
a bit more than half throttle.

2. 89 200q, flew from COS to Milwaukee, crashed at seller's place overnight,
drove home through LaCrosse, WI & NE Iowa to visit another lister, on
SP8000s in January. Yikes. Wonderful car, well cared for, the trip was a
breeze.

3. 74 Mercedes 280, the month after #2 above, flew to Chicago Midway, car
had been sitting a while and was not happy about being woken up, drove away
just as a big snowstorm moved into the area, barely made it to hotel, any
hotel, discovered Listerine unfreezes locks the next morning, went to
Chicago Auto Show, head west on I80 in the afternoon, doing sphincter
exercises into the evening due to patches of ice, generic all-seasons, and
lates 60's IRS rear suspension design. Terrible, awful heat/defrost in that
thing.

4. 85 urq, flew from COS to ATL, rented car, drove to Greenville, SC, turned
car in at GSP, crashed with friend who found & acquired car and got it
running. Went to Petit LeMans, crashed with another lister in Chattanooga,
made a beeline back to COS with no license plates on car. Had absolutely
zero history or other knowledge about condition of car and was afraid to
test heater core, found that the heated seats worked great!

5. 91 200q Avant, flew from COS to Ontario, CA with a buddy, seller picked
us up, took us to lunch, back to his business, did the deal, stopped at
Trader Joes, headed up to Victorville where we picked up a dirt bike my
buddy bought on eBay, which he tore down to engine/frame so we could pack it
in along with the couple of spare tires and box of UFO brakes that were
replaced by big brakes, headed back to COS on I40/I25, cruising from Santa
Fe to Raton averaging about a hundred through that stretch. Had to stop and
prop open the recirc flap between LA and Victorville and the cruise control
didn't work, which always seems to result in a higher average speed for me.

My car buying days are not over, but it'll probably be a good while before
there might be another such trip, so I'm hoping the statue of limitations on
jinxes with have expired before then.

Hey all,

I need a few items. I could use one, or a set, of injectors for a 10v turbo
and a place to purchase viton orings for said parts. I have to replace them
on a car. Should be easy-ish... I'd like newer or at least cleaner ones
but I seem to recall them being rare new.

I also need the hose from radiator to overflow tank, I believe it is.

Lastly, anyone in the southern Oregon or idaho/western mt area that could
lend assitance if needed? I've gotten a new project and I'm going to do one
of those really bad ideas where you go get it and drive it home. Its always
fun reading the stories of driving a thousand miles to get a great car when
its over and people write them. The problem I see is that I assume most of
the time it doesn't work. But you never hear those peoples stories because
they are dead. Let's go for scenario number one!

Yours truly,

Nick
