I had a séance with my V8 this afternoon and the odometer has started to
work as normal.
Audis heal themselves if you just know the right words.

Hi Ron: Yes, I think you did send me one, and I used the gears and the
electric drive motor that actually moves the gears to get my old one working
again.
Do you have another one?

Odometer failure! Again!
I took the V8 out to get fuel. After filling the tank, I zeroed out all the
computer outputs that can be zeroed as is my habit, and then reset the
odometer.
When I went out to drive the car yesterday, I backed it out of the garage
and when I got half way to town, I noticed that the odometer was not moving
and the trip meter was still set to zeros.
The motor that resets it is still working, but the numbers are frozen. I
suspect the worst: the little gears are gone and the speedo will have to be
removed so new ones can get installed. I do NOT want to return it to the
wrench for this, so I guess I may have to figure out how to take off the pad
and pull the cluster.which is a job that I am not keen about at all.never
been there or done that before is the wimpy reason.
Just after Steve rebuilt the speedo for me before, it froze once, only to
clear a few miles later. I am hoping that one of the little odo gears has
broken a tooth and it is jammed.and will clear itself.
Well, I can hope, can't I?
Roger
