[V8] why is it so quiet today ?

I just worked a 10 hr day, and came home to throw that tranny filter  
in the parts car, while it's still nice out.  I obviously wouldn't  
have seen all the metal/goo if I hadn't dropped the pan/filter, and  
since I still need to drive it to it's final resting place(and want  
to see if the filter solved the slipping), need to get it back  
together. I felt I had to at least entertain the idea, as the car  
doesn't leak a drop, and has a new rack/everything...and 125K.... I  
was short some exhaust bolts, as I snapped off all of them on  
removal, and could only scrounge up 3 out of 6 that would work(we're  
talking temporary here).  I'll let you know how it drives when I get  
it together/filled up.  If the slipping stops, I'm throwing a used  
good control arm on and gonna give it back to my friend who's been  
driving it the last few months to test it out, and use up the current  
tags that are good thru this year.  If it still slips, then I'm out  
$100, but had to try.....Tom
