[V8] Unintended acceleration

Well some of you may remember that I'd mentioned that I met an old  
couple(80's?) that had a Indigo Pearl V8(with 250K or so) that they  
bought new, and loved it to death, and the husband(who isn't able to  
drive anymore) figured on spending whatever it took, as it simply to  
him was the best car he's ever owned.  I called their mechanic  
recently(who's not necessarily a German Auto guy), and told him how  
to blink out the climate control codes, and gave him a copy of the  
manual.  Anyway, got a call tonight from the woman, who said the  
accelerator got stuck while doing 70 on the highway.  Luckily nobody  
got hurt, but before she could get it into neutral, she rode the  
brakes, and now the mechanic is telling them front brakes(UFO's)/ 
bearings got cooked, and since it still had a climate control issue,  
he's suggesting it's time to give it up.  She was basically calling  
to ask if I wanted it before they junked it.  I left a message with  
the mechanic, and told him I'll check in with him on Monday.  Either  
I'm gonna help them(with parts) get the beast back on the road which  
is my 1st choice,or end up with a Indigo Pearl(like my 5-speed) parts  
car.....I'll keep you posted....Tom
