[V8] AT leak

Just finished my steering rack r&r. Test drive went great until I noticed a sizable leak from the transmission. 

My question is, if the transfer case on the back of the trans. Were to leak, would it be red AT fluid or gear oil? I can't tell where it is leaking exactly. I pulled the pan and the gasket was pretty crusty and looked like it could have been compromised but I fear the worst.
