[V8] still running issues.

I was going to mention the ring gear also.  It isn't about starting, its about the RPM sensor using the teeth to count where it is in it's revolution.  Easy check, just put a socket wrench on the crank bolt, lay under the car with a good light, look up in one of the two holes on the transmission bellhousing and make sure EVERY tooth is there when you turn it by hand.  Good luck, these things can be frustrating - hang in there.
