[V8] control arms

I did the right side control arm on my 91 Avant recently and I started
trying to use the Bentley, which, at least for the Avant, does not
specifically cover control RR. This lead me to undo the axle nut, though I
did not remove the axle completely, but it allowed the strut to move
out/away from the car more. Not sure if this helped or not. I also dropped
the two front brackets for the sway bar. Reinstalling was not that bad as I
recall. I used an extra jack or two as well.

I seem to recall having the same problem on my 5K.

When you jack up the car to work on it, the suspension is unloaded and in
the "full down" position,
at the end of its' range of motion. Yes, it is difficult to get things to
line up for re-assembly.

I think I remember using two small hydraulic jacks to raise the RF & LF
suspensions to their
more-or-less "neutral" positions thus taking the loads off things and then
everything went together
much more easily.

I think I also removed the two clamps which hold the sway bar onto the front
crossmember, and let
the sway bar hang down while I redid the end attachments, then with
everything else done, I gently
jacked the middle of the sway bar back into the correct position and bolted
the caps on. It was all
actually pretty easy not having to wrestle the sway bar trying to torque it
so the holes would line
up. That sucker is far stronger than I am!
