What Dave said. I disconnected my cruise control rod the first time it started and it reoccurred because it was ALSO the linkage. It happened again, until I finally pulled it apart and lubricated everything.

Roger - I would beware the quick fix. It is worth your time to buy the torx bit
and get in there and fully examine/clean/lube the linkage. Also take the
throttle plates off and do the same at the front of the motor. There is some
small risk of breaking the o-rings on the throttle housings but go for it
anyway. As I said earlier, I had a small pebble at the front of my motor that
was just waiting to jam things up.
