[V8] Center Driveshaft bearing and clunking

It might be surprising but the center support is almost never the  source 
of any banging or thumping under the car until its so far gone that its  
blatantly obvious its shot and will be vibrating at speed. That's the case with  
Audi's, my Toyota Supra's and pretty much every multiple shaft truck from a 
1/2  ton p/u all the way up to my 500 hp Freightliner. Simply put, if its 
not  vibrating at speed, it isn't the center support.
 
 I'd be looking hard at engine/trans mounts and rear diff and  suspension 
mounts depending on exactly where it seems to be coming from.
