[V8] issues with the V8q

Just to throw my $0000.02 in -
I found on mine that the real problem was the pins on the long ribbon
cables that connect the various panels together.  The pins break where
they connect to the foil in the ribbon. It may be that you get lucky and
resoldering flows down to fix the joint, or maybe not.  At least in my
case, I removed all of the ribbons and replaced with individual wires.  I
found several broken pins.  I perhaps foolishly used solid wire to repair
mine (it is way easier to work with) but it has lasted several years this
way.  If I have to go in there again I will use stranded wire.

So - I guess the bottom line is that if a resolder alone does not cure
your problem, try looking for the broken pins and or replacing with
individual wires.
