[V8] Introduction!

I for one would like to know a little more about the car? Is there a dyno sheet available from the tuner of the car? And take those god awful rims off the car....sorry I speak my mind. Does that car have big brakes?...couldn't c from the pics I seen of the car.

The blower motor is a simple job. U should include a heater core while ur in there. I would do the heater valve as well. Shouldn't take u more than a few hours to do. I have a write up I think some were. I know I have pics of the process some were.
Clunking from shifts could b many things. I think it was Mr Hoffman who suggested raising the car off the ground and going through the gears while someone watches whats going on under there.
What springs are on the car? I have a spare H&R race spring (Blue) I had my pass side front break on my 90 V8 5sp and replaced them with four new ones so I have the one that u can have if it's the same as urs.
The Titan Grey 90 5sp Bob speakes of is Joe Fritz's car. I had the pleasure of working on that car before he moved from Mass. One of the truly special cars out there. And he's a great guy to boot!

Welcome Cary,

I'm relatively quiet on this forum, I listen take in all the knowledge here. These guys have seen and done most everything to a V8. Give them a good description of the car and they probably know where it came from, who used to own it and what mods were done. Do you know if it has an ABT chip in it? These guys drive their cars unlike me. When I start mine the "OK" never comes on in the instrument cluster so I don't want to drive it too much.  :) I saw yours at Imola last week when I picked up my daughters A4. The car does look good. There is one other 5 speed, 1990, in Plymouth, gray in color. The V8 list is your best knowledge base. I'll help if I can, and locally Brian and Sam are excelle nt.

Hello friends!

My name is Cary. I just picked up the 91 V8Q in Minneapolis that has been
referenced here in the past few days. It's a 5 speed and apparently has had
some work done by a tuner down in florida (rods, cams, pistons, tuning). So
far I am really enjoying it!

The car is in pretty good shape. The blower motor is out which I hear is a
bit of a PITA but I'll get it done before the snow flies. Hopefully I don't
break anything in the process.

I've noticed some clunking on shifts... I'm not the most graceful with the
manual as I haven't driven one for 3 years or so, but I'm wondering if
there's some sort of mount that's wearing out. Hopefully not too expensive.
I already stretched out the winter car budget buying it... ;)

Also, a spring is apparently broken on it so I will need to order a new one,
although it rides great and I haven't really noticed any symptoms of this.

Does anyone know if spare NOS "flashlight keys" are still available? I'd
like to try retrofitting a couple with LEDs. I was quite chuffed when I
discovered this feature of the key, however I think it could use a little
more power.

My goal with this car is to make it my winter daily. 2 torsens = win.

My other cars are an 07 VW GTI and an 86 4KQ with a 10vT swap that is
currently about 90% finished but sidelined for the time being. It needs an
intake and intercooler mounting solution fabricated as well as some wiring
and tuning. I've been too busy lately to finish it and realistically it will
probably need to go to a shop to be finished up as I don't really have fab
skills and the time to do it.

Take it easy!

-Cary
