[V8] V8 Storage

6-10 months? I felt really bad parking the Lago car for the last 4
years(wasn't supposed to be that long.... really)......I put gas
treatment in the few gallons of gas that I left in the tank, and
changed the oil before parking it. When parking a car for a
"whenever" deal, I've always tried to drain the tank while it's
driveable in case it's not later. I honestly tried to start it every
month, but that didn't really happen on schedule. Since I'm a
saltwater boat guy, there's 2 schools of thought on gas. Either you
fill it to the brim and minimize condensation for 6 month storage
with treatment, or leave it basically empty and change the fuel
filter and fill it up before it's next use(with treatment). I'f
you've got a 5000 gallon tank, then you fill. If you're smaller,then
you decide. Since I change the filter on the boat every year, that's
a no brainer. Don't want to have a fuel problem on a bad day in big
seas that would swamp my boat with no power, and who want's to deal
with 50 gallons of bad gas. The new Marine Stabil(green) is
reformulated for the Ethanol in all our gas, and while it's more of
an issue with saltwater boats with newer fuel injected outboards,
have put the green in all my Audis recently, but not the boat, and is
probably the best gas treatment for any storage currently on the
planet (ethanol is hugely hydroscopic and can put gallons of water in
a tank just pulling it from the air.) Did I put the green in the
Lago car?....not till about 6 months ago when I got a jug of it for
the boat...Lago car runs great after 4 years, and 6-10 months in my
opinion is nothing. Parts car was sitting for more like 6-8 years
in a field(near sea level) with who know's what in the tank(85
octane?), and luckily it was basically empty when I got it. Fresh
filter, and it made a huge difference. 6-10 month.....change the oil,
and leave 1/4 tank or less, and throw in some Marine Stabil, an
you're way ahead of most people....If you haven't changed the filter
in your car in years/have no idea how old it it, change it when you
get back after sucking that 1/4 tank. The filter is there to filter
out the crap(and there's crap, and if stored, more crap), and any car
that's been sitting for years, definatly needs a new filter....Every
vehicle I've bought in my life benefitted from a new filter...Sorry
for the ramble.....Tom
