I'll second Ron with the 20/50, but since I get up in high altitude
in the winters, switch to 10/40 when I'm planning on being at
elevation in the winter....Minnesota winters sounds like a 10/40 to
me....I fill mine half way between high/low which I believe is around
9.2 quarts.....Fill it all the way and it just goes out into the cats
which is not good. The Lago car came from Denver, and the dealer had
5w/30 in it and we drove it across the rockies in mid summer with
that, and it ran super hot.......I changed it in ID to 20/50, and it
loved it and cooled way down.
The amended service bulletin I believe say's something like 9.1
quarts......
Use Tony's hose method to determine where the sound is coming from,
cause most people don't do the viscous fan clutch bearing/oil pump
bearing in the timing belt procedure, and since I just did it, the
Lago car is now quieter than the other 3 cars, and this sound would
be coming from either the fan clutch, or lower.....Now that I know
what the motor should sound like, I'm probably gonna have to do those
bearings on the 5-speed since they weren't done and are probably
original. I always assumed that these cars just made that rattle
sound while idling.......Could have something to do with your yet
to be determined cam/belt is off a notch/sticky valve. I'd try the
ATF/Marvel/Kerosine(supposedly all that Marvel is/smells like it)/
JetA fuel(if you know a plane guy)Seafoam(supposedly just JetA)......
100% BioDiesel is even "slicker/more solventy" than all of these, and
might even be a good alternatiive, but I'm not a
petrochemist....Where's Karl when you
