Bob, thanks for that thoroughly detailed explaination.  I've got the  
entire whole dash complete with steering rod sitting in my spare  
bedroom from the parts car.  Finally found the lost key(in the  
glovebox that's still attached to the dash).  Car had a new lock  
tumbler/switch installed at some point recently, so I briefly looked  
at how one would remove that lock tumbler, and since it wasn't  
something I HAD to do, I simply walked away.   I've still never  
removed the dash pad in 10 years and a bunch of cars....(knocking on  
my wood desk)....I know at some point, I'll be barking up that tree,  
so thanks for the helpful hints....Tom
