Has anyone ever heard of the isuzu impulse rs, or also known as the asuna
sunfire in canada, I think?

It was a sort of silly car, put together by isuzu in Japan with a motor
shared by geos, it had a suspension which was tunned by lotus since gm
owned them at that time, and the engine also was used in the lotus elan.

As sold by Isuzu, the Impulse RS came with a permenant all-wheel drive
system which was fwd based, a 1.6l dohc turbocharged motor, and fully
independant suspension, and a 5 speed. Very few options and pretty
stripped down interior, but a cool small hatch back which really was
similar and more or less predated the sti's and evos which littered the
streets not too long after.

I have always had a silly attatchement to these things, and with only 800
made in the us and canada combined, finding one is rare. Finding a 1 owner
sub 100k car is even more rare. I would own every car ever if I could as I
am that kind of silly person, but this is one I really want to add to the
stable for the exclusivity and reminiscent value mostly. They are really
neat but hard to maintain, albeit fairly cheap for the most part. (Ps,
maybe not EVERY car)

So I am currently yet again planning the deep, dark plunge into what will
surely be a very involved process of obtaining this silly thing and getting
it up to specs and enjoying my forbidden fruit, I am kind of excited I must
admit.

I know a lot of folks here are slight british classic car nuts, I'm sure
plenty of people have their little bit of car lust, just wanted to share
mine
